Our Schools Link program caters to Primary, Secondary and High School students in Hanoi

Contact hours

The RHT is contracted to work a 44-hour week on-site, normally over a 5-day week from Monday to Friday. Very infrequent work on weekends if required by the line manager.

Working location

This position is based at Schools Link base centres with regular travel to Schools Link partner schools.

Qualifications

  • Having at least three years of experience teaching young learners in a classroom setting.
  • Having at least one year of experience in a middle leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any subject.
  • CELTA, Trinity TESOL, or equivalent teaching certificate.
  • Native English speaker or equivalent with evidence of high language proficiency.
  • Must commit to work until the end of the 2024-2025 academic year (31/5/2025).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • As a Regional Head Teacher (RHT), you will be a fundamental component of the Academic Management Team (ACMAN), working directly with teachers to support their performance in the classroom, and also working with the wider ACMAN team to enhance the academic quality of the Schools Link product.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English language lessons that meet the needs of your learners, taking into account individual learning styles, and make these lessons available for other teachers to observe in order to support their professional development as teachers. Teaching hours, including cover, can be up to 50 hours per calendar month.
  • Provide cover as required, including being on call for emergency cover (2nd round) up to two half days a week.
  • Monitor student progress and provide necessary feedback to help manage students’ performance.
  • Complete teaching-related administrative tasks (e.g. marking tests, reporting results) in a timely fashion.
  • Assist teachers in your assigned region to handle issues that arise. Such issues could include: difficulties with teaching, with TA/school relationships, with materials, with facilities, and with life in Hanoi in general.
  • Work with the ACMAN team to prepare and deliver sharing sessions and workshops to develop specific teaching competencies throughout the academic year and during induction.
  • Attend regular meetings with both internal (teachers, fellow RHTs, and the wider ACMAN team) and external stakeholders (parents, school boards) as required.
  • Conduct teacher observations as required during the academic year, delivering high-quality written and verbal feedback to support teachers in their professional development, and complete performance reviews for your teachers at the end of the academic year.
  • Assist ACs and the AM to identify teachers who are over- or under-performing and provide support and guidance to these teachers (including through the use of a Teaching Development Plan) in order to help them meet the required standards.
  • Engage in frequent face-to-face and phone communication with every teacher in your assigned region. Visit each school in your assigned region at least once per semester.
  • Communicate regularly with the academic management team and other departments within the company.
  • Support the ACMAN team to conduct interviews for new teachers as necessary.
  • Participate in school outreach events (e.g. school assemblies, English competitions) as and when required.
  • Complete development work projects and other relevant tasks as assigned by the ACMAN team.
